Yes — final-year graduation students can apply for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. You do not need to wait for your degree to be complete before filling the form.

How It Works
- You can appear for the Prelims while still in your final year.
- If you clear Prelims, you must submit proof of passing your degree along with the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the Mains — usually due a few weeks after the Prelims result.
- If your university delays results and you cannot produce proof in time, your candidature can be cancelled — so track your university’s result schedule carefully.
Should Final Year Students Attempt UPSC?
It depends on your preparation level. An early attempt gives you real exam-hall experience and costs nothing extra if you are already studying — but remember, appearing for even one Prelims paper counts as an attempt. Many serious aspirants use the final year for foundation study (NCERTs + newspaper) and take their first genuine attempt the following year.
Documents You Will Eventually Need
Degree certificate or provisional certificate, final-year marksheet, age proof (Class X certificate), category certificate (if applicable) and a valid photo ID. Keep scanned copies ready before the DAF window opens.
